Privacy Policy
Basalt is designed as a local AI workspace. We do not operate an account system, advertising service, cloud conversation history, or analytics profile for the application.
Information stored on your device
Basalt stores downloaded models, conversations, message attachments you select, Skills, settings, and application logs locally on your device. Removing the application may not automatically remove its local data directory; you remain in control of those files.
Skills and model context
Skill names and descriptions are included in the local model’s system prompt. Full Skill instructions are added to a request only when the local model calls the built-in get_skill function. Basalt does not upload Skills to IAM_DEV.
When Basalt connects to the internet
Basalt can connect to the internet in these user-directed situations:
- When you choose to download a model, Basalt contacts the displayed model host or its supported mirror.
- When you open the Microsoft Store, support email, or another clearly labeled external link, your operating system opens the corresponding service.
Basalt does not silently upload your chats, images, Skills, or local history to IAM_DEV.
Third-party services
Model hosts, Microsoft Store, and your email provider process information under their own privacy terms.
Logs
Application and local model runtime logs remain on your device. They may include diagnostic messages and local file locations. Do not share logs publicly without reviewing them.
Children’s privacy
Basalt is a general productivity application and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information through an account or cloud service.
Changes
We may update this policy when Basalt’s behavior changes. The effective date above identifies the current version.
